Dear colleagues,

In our ‘Connecting Expertise’ event series, we have the pleasure to invite you to an invitation only network event on April 24, 2020 to introduce you to the latest technologies and expertise at Ghent University, University Hospital Ghent, VIB-Ghent departments & university colleges in the broad domains of Cell & Tissue Engineering.

During this event, short technology pitches will be presented next to research groups pitching their particular needs. The first session will focus on clinical applications followed by a second session presenting technical challenges or solutions. The sessions will be interspersed with rounds of speed-dating to create an optimal environment for connecting expertise among participants.

We welcome basic and clinical researchers with backgrounds in biology, physics, chemistry, pharmacology, medicine and engineering working on all areas related to cell and tissue engineering-based technologies and approaches towards cellular therapies, advanced therapy medicinal products (ATMP's) and regenerative medicine.

2nd GRIG Industrial Partnering Event on 25th of October - 01/11/2019

The 2nd CRIG industrial partnering event connected over 180 delegates from industry and academia on innovations in cancer research CRIG

On Friday 25th October 2019, CRIG successfully hosted its 2nd industrial partnering event in AuditoRium4 (Ghent). Over 90 delegates from 47 life science companies and 90 delegates from academia discussed the latest innovations in cancer research, and networked towards creating new, synergic collaborations in oncology.

The event showcased expertise from CRIG and its partners, bringing together researchers, clinicians, pharma companies, SME and many others, all with the common goal to bring better and faster results to cancer patients.

“BioGelator: self assembling peptide platform for subcutaneous injection”

With the support of the IOF (Industrieel Onderzoeks Fonds) we have an open position for a 2-year project. We are hiring a project manager with good knowledge of pharmaceutical science and/or experience in drug development and drug delivery systems.

The goal of the Project manager is to join forces with the research teams actively working on the Biogelator technology at both VUB and UGent and to evaluate the market opportunity and prepare a solid valorization strategy with support of a Senior Business Developer. We aim to build a roadmap to transfer this valuable proprietary technology to the market.

Job description

The Project Manager will be a central person in the project who will interact closely with the researchers and business development manager.

In this role you will:
• Evaluate the research data related to the Biogelator technology
• Organize frequent meetings with Professors, Researchers and Business Development team.
• Support the translation of R&D concepts to market opportunities
• Study the market opportunity and identify competitive and alternative technologies
• Identify unmet medical needs for delivery of small molecules, peptides, proteins, DNA and RNA and cell delivery.
• Interact closely with industry and key opinion leaders
• Screen new patent opportunities and evaluate freedom to operate
• Select clinically and economically relevant payloads for preclinical pipeline.
• Prepare roadmap to transfer Biogelator technology to the market.
• Initiate data package for multi-licensing strategy and/or prepare project application for potential spin-off strategy

Profile and Competencies

• A Master or PhD in life sciences, preferably in Pharmaceutical Science
• Experience in domain of drug delivery is an asset.
• Experience with the project writing and management is an asset
• Broad technical and interpersonal skills to coordinate collaborations between teams with different technical/scientific background.
• Good communication and writing skills (at least Dutch and English)
• Being able to work accurate, independently as well as in team is essential.
• Dynamic and sense of initiative.
• Excellent social and communicative competencies and customer oriented.
• Basic knowledge of aspects of business development/valorisation like IP/patents and basic contracts (CDA, MTA) is an asset.
• Special interest in applied research and in the maturation of technologies towards industrial applications/products
